HyperX continues to expand their gaming keyboard line and has just released the Alloy Origins Core.  It houses the same outstanding HyperX Red mechanical switches from its bigger brother Alloy Origins.  This Core version is smaller and more compact due to the tenkeyless layout and is priced at $89.  Today, we are going to cover how it performed and our overall impressions after using it continuously for a week.

 

Immense value at its Core

We are huge fans of the Alloy Origins mechanical gaming keyboard.  It’s actually our favorite this year by a long shot.  When we saw HyperX was releasing a tenkeyless model, we had to test it out.  For the past week, we have used the Core version extensively.  Let’s go over everything that is included with this latest model.

The Alloy Origins Core features the excellent HyperX mechanical switches with exposed LEDs that illuminate with vivid RGB intensity.  The keyboard can be adjusted to 3 different angles and everything is once again encased within an aircraft-grade aluminum chassis.  This little guy feels like a tank, showcasing impressive weight and tremendous build quality.

 

 

There is onboard memory for up to 3 separate profiles on the Core.  This is extremely handy as you can customize the look and effects through the recently updated HyperX NGENUITY Software.  It connects to your PC and is powered through an included Type-C braided USB cable.

This is tenkeyless keyboard built for gamers that prefer compact design, but at the same time want all the tech and features of the original Alloy Origins.  HyperX listened and the Core model comes with Game Mode, 100% anti-ghosting and N-key rollover functionalities.  They HyperX mechanical switches have an actuation force of 45g and a traveling distance of 1.8mm.  The feedback from each keystroke is solid and responsive.  It has just the right amount of weight and resistance.  They are rated for 80 million keystrokes, so you can rest knowing this keyboard will retain this impressive performance for countless years to come.

The HyperX NGENUITY Software is compromised of some impressive tools for customizing your lighting, macros, effects, button bindings and even has the ability to enable or disable keys as you see fit.  You can take your time and truly tailor this keyboard to your liking.  It’s a ton of fun to play around with the different transitions, colors, opacity and speed settings.  It’s getting better with every update as well.

The HyperX Alloy Origins Core proves to be a phenomenal mechanical gaming keyboard for those that need or prefer something compact that doesn’t skimp out on tech, features or build quality.  It delivers the same performance as its bigger brother, with the tenkeyless layout being the only thing separating the two.  It’s without a doubt the best option for those with smaller workspaces and perfect for anyone who travels, needing a high quality mechanical keyboard that’s bullet proof in design and easily stashes away in a backpack.
