“The Flash” Confirmed for DC Universe Online
Sony Onlice Entertainment have let it be known that The Flash, one of the more unsung heroes of the DC Universe will feature in their upcoming PC/PS3 MMO DC Universe Online. Although it appears they announced this at the end of may, they sent out a press release today in order to spread the word. The spilled beans read as follows:
“The Fastest Man Alive, Wally West easily runs at light speed, vibrates through objects, create explosions through friction – and, when at agonizing top capacity, can manipulate time and bridge dimensions.
The Flash is a time-honored member of the Justice League. The latest in a long line of Flashes, each with their own unique way of tapping into the primal “Speed Force,” Wally is determined to live up to the noble legacies of speedsters such as Barry Allen, Max Mercury, and Jay Garrick.
Flash’s enemies call themselves the Rogues Gallery. This deadly collection of brutal foes includes Captain Cold, Heatwave, Mirror Master, and the lethal speedster Zoom – villainous threats not just to Keystone City, but the world.”
Well, I for one am glad they’re including even the more “peripheral” figures of the DC Universe and I’m also secretly hoping that someone will finally make a decent film featuring good ol’ Wally that’s better than the budget TV effort from the early 90’s (which i’m pretty sure Mark “That’s IMPOSSIBLE!!!!” Hamill made a few appearances in. Anyways DC Universe Online is starting to look like one of the better titles in SOE’s current repetoire, but whether it can draw away enough players from Champions Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic or of course…World of Warcraft, remains to be seen. Head on over to the official site to learn more…
Screenshots abound, so enjoy them DC fans!

As anyone who played DC Vs MK Universe will attest, The Flash can be a pretty cheap character to play. As most of the heroes super-powers were reigned in (as it should be technically impossible to kill characters like Superman and Captain Marvel) and the game mechanics of powers like teleporting and flying never seem to pan out right, The Flash’s abilities made him almost impossible to beat. I look forward to seeing how this game manages to level the playing field in such an unbalanced universe.
